Picking the Right Color
It’s important to determine your skintone before you choose the perfect lippie for Spring. The three most basics tones are warm, cool, and neutral. You can do some research to figure out what you are, or even ask a professional at a makeup counter. Read about several ways to determine your skin tone here.
Once you know your skin tone, you can decide which colors will work for you. Choose colors that have an undertone that matches your skin. Read more about choosing colors here.
However, as with fashion, beauty rules can be fun to break! If you like a lipcolor, and your BFF can confirm you look great—forget your undertones and buy it!
So you’re scared to leave the house with neon lips?
Build up to it—start with a gloss or a lipstain, and work your way up to a bolder, more pigmented color. Wear with your favorite outift and own the look. Find a signature color—or buy them all! (Shiny lipstick tubes do look so beautiful lined up on a vanity shelf.)
Take inspiration from your personal style icons, celebrities or models with confidence (and similar coloring!).
