Annebeth 's Thoughts:

Hi lovers! I have a question for you. As you might remember, my boyfriend bought the crazy amazing LanvinxH&M dress for me last year, even though he was sorta hatin’ it himself. The main reason he wasn’t convinced of its fab-factor was the bit of nude colored fabric that covered the decolletage. I didn’t mind it as much as I felt like it gave the dress a very two dimensional sketch like quality, as if the designer just pulled it off of his pages. But I did feel like the nude fabric matched my skintone too closely which just made it look a bit weird. I have been contemplating options to DIY it into something “better” (heresy?) and I would like to hear your opinion on the matter. Go ahead or STOP RIGHT IN YOUR TRACKS MISSYbjzkghrzogzhé"é(zgs!

first pic is my alteration idea, second pic is the original version :) let me know!

I think I do like your alterations better! It really adds a new dimension to the dress, and makes it look like it SHOULD have been made that way all along! Way to go, its lovely!

I really like the way you're thinking about altering it! The black straps look great and so adorably retro. Cute rainbow nails too!

i think that the alteration is much more flattering....sheer nude is tacky

I like the remake! :) I think it looks good either way, but remaking pieces always gets a yes from me. I agree with Sarah, as long as it's avoiding cutting and you can remake it again later, then I say go for it. :)

Gorgeous dress, looks good either way, its all about how good u feel in it that's all. xx!

As I mentioned on your blog, you should definitely remake it. If you can avoid cutting it then great but if not, then still do it. If Rachel Zoe can alter a Chanel runway original gown then you can alter a LanvinxHM dress :)

I like the shape of the neckline better in the original, but the straps of the altered idea. So if you keep the original neckline, which I think is probably only tweaked because (I'm assuming) you tucked the nude panel down, do it with the black straps! So cute. AMAZING dress, either way.

I prefer it your DIY way. Any sort of nude mesh always reminds me of a figure skating costume...
Annebeth
Annebeth on May 11
I would like it if it were a mesh because figure skating is AWESOME but the fabric is opaque and silky, even weirder! :D

this dress is gorgeous! i think it looks great either way, but i really love the black halter straps. the black is a nice contrast to the red and adds to the belt and shoes. +1
