Everyone, say hi to E, the stylish and leggy (and did we mention long legs?) lady behind District Of Chic. The 28-yr.old and happily married marketer from the DC Metro Area loves to cook, horseback ride, watch TV and read books. Among her faves are Lolita and pretty much everything else by Nabokov. She started her Chictopia page in 2008 after reading it in a couple of other fashion blogs. Even before she joined, she already thought of Chictopia as a fun democratic idea of fashion and style and we’re with ’ya! We guess everyone here agrees with her on that!

Q: What was your reaction after finding out you are one of the Chictopia Style Icons for April?
A: Chictopia is one of my biggest sources of inspiration and has always been such a fun and supportive community to be a part of, so to be recognized alongside some of the most stylish fashion bloggers really means the world to me.
Q: Care to share tips to fellow Chictopians aspiring to be Style Icons themselves?
A: Be yourself and don’t be afraid to take risks!
Q: How would you describe your style? Do you get inspiration from other fashion icons? If so, from who?
A: All over the map. I have preppy tendencies, but I like to play around with edgier pieces, as well. I go through romantic and feminine phases… I guess it’s whatever strikes my fancy on that particular day. I definitely get inspiration from other fashion icons – just check out my favorites!
Q: Do you have favorite pieces that you love wearing over and over again?
A: Oh definitely. And I go through phases, too (which I’m sure is apparent on my blog). Lately, I’ve been wearing my Finsk platforms and Cesare Paciotti sandals with everything.
Q: If you were stranded in an island, what 5 pieces do you want to take with you?
A: Yikes! That’s tough! I’m also pretty sure the things I would pick would be detrimental to survival. I guess the most island-friendly things I have right now are my ASOS “cold shoulder” shirtdress, my vintage Ralph Lauren nautical print skirt, Topshop leather shorts, my Alexander Wang tank dress, and Miu Miu platforms.
Q: About your name/blog, how did you come up with District of Chic? Is it simply because you’re from DC? If so, what made you name your blog after DC?
A: Oh it’s a little hokey now, I suppose. But at the time (and I still do this), I looked around this town and thought, “damn! We look good!” It really bugged me to hear people say that DC lacked style, because I see an incredibly sartorially-diverse city with this wonderful mix of old school preppy, bohemian, hipster, hip hop, southern, and myriads of other influences.
