The style: TIE WAIST
How to wear them: These shorts definitely have more class than your usual cutoffs. Because of this, they can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion. They would look great for a fancy lunch on a hot summer day, or just paired with a t-shirt if you need a quick outfit for school. To dress these up, try a silky blouse that compliments the shorts with a nice pair of flats or wedges. Add simple gold and silver jewelry to accent the outfit and you’re set. If it’s chilly add a blazer and some tights. To dress them down, just wear them with your favorite t-shirt, a comfy cardigan and some oxfords or flats.

The style: HIGH WAISTED
How to wear them: This is the most versatile of all the shorts. It can be found in a plethora of shapes, materials and colors. But the style that is the most popular seems to be high waisted denim cutoffs. If you go for the cutoffs, your outfit can take a grunge or bohemian style. Pair it with your favorite band tee and some short boots or a bright crop top and gladiator sandals for each style. These cutoffs are hard to dress up, so save them for casual occasions. If you find other high waisted shorts, you should wear them similarly to the tie waist shorts.

The style: FLORAL
How to wear them: This trend is more of a print of the shorts than the actual cut of them, they are available in all the cuts of shorts that are being discussed in this post. You can do a variety of things with this type of shorts. If you want to keep it simple, pair them with a causal blazer, some strappy sandals and a light tee for the summer. If you want to take a risk, try mixing patterns. Try pairing some stripes or polka dotted shirts with your floral shorts.

The style: CULOTTES
How to wear them: These shorts have their origins in France (Sans-culottes anyone?). Modern culottes are like a split skirt, because of this they are super comfy and provide a lot of freedom. These shorts are available in a wide variety of prints, but the shape is pretty consistent. Wear these like you would wear a short skirt, which means there are many ways to wear it. Try a cropped tank with some embellishments, or a sweater for a chillier day. To wear them in the fall pair them with tights, combat boots and longer jacket (like a utility one). Keep the rest of your outfit toned town if your culottes have a bold print. But, if you are a risk taker, try and mix prints!
