There is something about the spring that makes me get excited. I have always had this weird thing where I feel like I can smell the change in seasons. I would wake up one morning, walk outside and it would simply smell like the spring. I can’t really describe exactly what the smell is, but whatever it is, it means that warm weather, blooming tulips and nights on the patio with friends are on their way.
I won’t speak too much about the Royal wedding that was on this weekend (I didn’t watch since I was at my friend’s wedding in London Ontario), but what I will say is there were a lot of fascinators worn. Clearly, they are taking a note from Vintage Redheads since I’ve been sporting and designing these headbands since the winter. I adore the way they give an extra bit of pizazz to an outfit. Plus, mine are homemade so I can alter and adorn them uniquely to the different outfits I wear. I love this little pink and white tulip one, it might be a bit big for some but I love the way it explodes out from the band, just like spring tulips bursting out of the ground after a long, long winter.
I was never really one to wear pink, I never felt I was “girly” enough to pull it off. But there has been something about the softness of the colours with delicate touches like the black detailed lace overlayed on this dress that is simply entrancing and almost ethereal. I really like playing with one colour’s different tones and hues lately. I paired the soft pink dress with bright fuchsia tights to create a perfect balance in different pinks.
