Confession: I haven’t been single in over four years. I’ve been in two long term relationships and back in May my latest one ended. I’ve never really had any dating experience so when a new boy asked me out (Lulu called me a serial dater the other day, ahh!) it was time to test a little scenario I used to play out in my head when I was bored of being in a relationship and would wonder what it would be like to go on a coffee date like this.
(well, technically I already went on this date a while ago but bear with me anyway!)
Perhaps only I would give this that much thought, but I tried to find an outfit that would be aesthetically pleasing without showing too much. I could easily do the casual jeans + shirt combo but I opted for the vintage day dress that is still casual but a step up.
The cut of the dress also matters because you want to avoid major boobie spillage. If you’re going to be sitting across from a guy for a while you want him to pay attention to you not your rack, right? I actually made this mistake once and ended up feeling really insecure and shy because I was trying really hard to conceal this ridiculous sight. Ugh!
And as for the date itself? It went well! I guess my only advice would be the one everyone else gives: be yourself! You can’t force a guy to like you and likewise if you feel that you’re not compatible, end it. In the end, just have fun!
p.s. Going back to these photos, I realized that I totally look like a 50’s housewife in this kitchen setting. I just moved into my new apartment and I guess I’m a little bit too obsessed with channeling my inner domestic goddess.
