What’s the best place on the internet to get up-to-the-minute fashion news? Twitter, of course! With everyone from designers to bloggers tweeting up a storm, you’re sure to find something different and chic with every Twitpic you click. Read on for some of my recommendations for fashionable people to follow on Twitter, and chic tweet snippets to convince you!
Websites and Magazines
It seems like almost everybody is on Twitter nowadays! From (my favorite) @TeenVogue to web-style handbook @Who WhatWear, and even @Chictopia, there are plenty of ways to get news on your favorite magazines and websites. Follow them for updates of new posts, new issues, and more!
My picks: @nylonmag is always serving up links to quality fashion content, whether it be from their website or elsewhere….and of course I’m partial to @everybodyisugly for up-to-date fashion gossip and articles.
Models and Bloggers
“A tip for the ladies, if you’ve just started dating…don’t tell him you love the show ‘Snapped’.” -@Jess_Stam
Twitter is also a great way to connect with your favorite fashion personalities. And who knew they were so funny, too?! (@Jess_Stam, I’m talking to you). Models and bloggers are most likely in charge of their own accounts, so it’s a more real way to connect with people like @itsmechaneliman and @sartorialist. Also, with bloggers, you can get updates on their latest posts.
My picks: Blogger Jane Aldridge from @sea_of_shoes will delight you with a combination of interesting fashion stories and ideas (“Take note: One see-through shirt + one see-through bra does not equal an opaque garment”), world news, and clever insight….@parkncube ’s tweets are as witty as her blogposts.
Designers and Brands
“Just left the house in a sandal… Feel free to laugh and point should you see me today.” -@henryholland
My picks: @henryholland is a designer who you can tell manages his own Twitter account, which I love—it feels more real, and he’s always funny (he likes to Twitpic with his mother)…. @erinfetherston’s PR girl is definitely on top of things, posting frequently with pictures and news stories about the fairytale designer.
Randoms and Professionals
“The best thing about funerals is that everybody wears black.” -@fakekarl
These last tweeters are no less important just because I couldn’t figure out what category to put them in!
To clear things up: the real Karl Lagerfeld isn’t on Twitter. However, @Karl_Lagerfeld posts past quotes from the real Karl, and @fakekarl posts hilarious interpretations of what goes on inside the iconic designer’s head.
I also love @NARSissist, which represents the makeup brand NARS (go here for lots of posts about celebrity makeup looks), and of course @ladygaga who is always posting stylish and inspirational Twitpics (like the one seen here with the boys of Thierry Mugler).
My picks: Teen Vogue Beauty Editor @evachen212 is always offering up helpful beauty tips and posting links to the cutest designer clothes and accessories (she’s also really easy to connect with and will almost always reply to a question)…. @themoment tests your style IQ with all kinds of fashion trivia.
