Though notorious for the Alexa bag – named after style icon Alexa Chung, of course – Mulberry proves itself a serious contender in ready-to-wear in its first show back in London. Set in a replica of a quaint, dreamlike garden, this show brought forth many wearable, well-designed looks. Of course, the muse is quintessentially English and not too fussy. Emma Hill, creative director of Mulberry, referenced this muse: “She’s got her long party dress on and she throws on a duffel coat.”
We’re not talking about sequined everything – this is more along the lines of subtly done shine. Metallic-infused knits, coats with a soft sheen, gilded pleated pieces, and quilted satin dresses are anything but tacky. Naturally, it’s debatable whether the clothes themselves are the real stars, with such classically cool bags and shoes, even in metallic shades. Though not featured, the new quilted Alexa bag made its debut, and it’s sure to be on the arm of every style icon by fall.
Trend: Countryside Chic
This is far from the dowdiness that one may associate with any country-inspired styles. Instead, we have a relatively muted color palette accented with a few pale prints, along with coats in smart silhouettes. There’s just enough prettiness, but by no means is it frilly or overdone, especially when countered with corduroy and twill.
Trend: Ladylike Brights
Who says ladylike styles must be boring or demure? Classic silhouettes in bright shades and sumptuous fabrics are the opposite of dull. Paired with similarly punchy bags and shoes, this trend is for the fun young woman that loves playing with color. Care to throw on a plum wool blazer? Don’t mind if we do.

4. Olivia Palermo sits atop a mushroom wearing a shearling jacket, pastel ankle boots and of course, accompanied by a leopard print Alexa bag at her side.
