I imagine if Coco Chanel, back in her childhood years at the monastery, had set up a lemonade stand she’d wear something like this. The powdery lightness of lemon yellow whipped up in feather-light chiffon contrasts with the severity of the collar, the modesty of long sleeves and shapeless silhouette. This dress also brings to mind what Jil Sander may offer for spring in a lighter take of minimalist fashion or a great dress ASOS would sell (the collar is removable for easy washing!) I found this little number for $80 (USD $10) at vintage/wholesale store Mee and Gee. I call this masterpiece the orphan-meets-lemonade-stand dress styled as Alexa Chung would have it. They say that yellow people shouldn’t wear yellow clothes but I think people with the last name ?* are an exception.
*: ? means ‘yellow’ in Chinese
