An Education portrays early-1960s Britain, complete with a perfectly charming cast. While the film itself is certainly worth watching, I could not help but notice the magnificent fashions presented. Jenny, played by Carrie Mulligan, transitions from a typical teen in the era, to a new socialite under the spell of a much-older conman. Accompanying this change, we see a noticeable difference in her wardrobe.
Schoolgirl vs. Socialite
Enclosed by a conservative suburban setting, Jenny dreams of Paris and anything remotely “cooler” than what her peers have to offer. Take a cue from BrokenLolita and strawberrykoi to get the quintessential British schoolgirl look.
Swept off her feet by the novelty of apparent adulthood, our protagonist trades her simple sweaters for pretty frocks and heels. FiFiMacKay and pansylane emulate this style perfectly – a simple shift and leopard printed coat look wonderful together!
