The last show I attended for this season’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was the Tracy Reese Fall Winter 2011 Collection. I was at awe from the moment I got in the venue because of the metallic backdrop behind the runway. As it seems her collection made use of bright metallics and jewel tones, it was only apt to have such an opulent setting, not to mention her logo of gold letters with robin’s egg blue chandelier behind were next to the metallic wall. On top of the seats were the golden pouches filled with golden heart chocolates that functioned as a paper weight for her line up list. Ahh, occasion-appropriate, noting that her show falls on the 14th of February – Hearts’ Day!
Tracy Reese manages to make pretty clothes each and every season and this time was no exception. She had produced varying styles that would actually make you think and analyze what the underlying theme was. But it was actually simple, if you try to look at it as a whole. Her collection was simply a union of chic, luxurious and romantic pieces that makes me think of the Upper East Side without the hefty tag price. The mix of jewel tones, bright metallics, deep hues and luxurious fabrics such as fur all make for a Blair Waldorf-esque aesthetic. Tracy Reese makes the hottest trends of Fall wearable and look stunningly so. While metallic pleats were in abundance, I would say that fur takes the spotlight for this collection. Weather fur scarves or stoles or as seen in the hemlines of her dresses, they were wonderfully incorporated to each of her pieces.
While I was focused more on being seated prior to the show, it can’t be helped not to people-watch. Among the celebrities in attendance were Gabrielle Union, Julia Stiles, June Ambrose, Natalie Morales and Veronica Webb. Of course, I also got to see The Man Repeller herself, Leandra Medine, not to mention the new French Vogue Editor, Emmanuelle Alt.
This Tracy Reese Fall/Winter 2011 show concludes my Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week coverage for Chictopia’s EIU Blog. It was another breath-taking experience and I would like to take the time to thank the whole staff of Chictopia! Chictopia rocks!
