My day started of with the Carlos Miele Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show. The garments were playful with graphic prints and neon colors and he had a specific, elegant way to use fabrics. Artisan techniques such as stitching, leatherwork and patchwork are his trademark and he didn’t change that for this show. Gorgeously made gowns with either highly structured silhouettes, interesting draping or innovative use of fabric passed the runway today at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week.
Carlos Miele, who is a Brazilian designer, is a regular participant at New York and London fashion shows. You might recognize him from television series such as “Ugly Betty” (episode 11 of the third season) and “Gossip girl” (episode 3 of the fourth season). His red carpet designs are highly structured and busy, with bold color combinations, clingy silhouettes and plunging necklines.
With designs being insanely sexy it will come as no surprise to you that Carlos Miele has the honor to dress celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Eva Longoria, Christina Aguilera and Scarlett Johansson. His creations appear constantly on the red carpet of main events in the world.
For this Fall/Winter 2011 collection, Carlos Miele chose to work with tridimensional surfaces, overlays, playing with light and dark, satellite images, graphic stripes and clash of colors and textures. The prevailing color palette consisted of mustard in combination with deep bluish-purple shades, vermilion and emerald greens in combination with neutrals and textured blacks. My personal favorite garment was the off-white crepe jumpsuit with silk paprika sash and a light gold, silk duchesse hood (first picture). This jumpsuit was worn with beige suede and gold leather high heel sandals.
I personally love how Carlos Miele uses different colors and textures and that is why this show is my third favorite show up to this point.
