Kati Stern’s Venexiana Fall/Winter 2011 collection presented at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week began with “Swan Lake” that turned into upbeat rock music, which went perfectly with the luxurious rocker edge looks that she sent down the runway.
Known for her rock ‘n’ roll haute couture designs, Kati Stern’s Venexiana fashion show was like attending a mini rock concert through the music and glamorous models wearing voluminous messy hair buns, tons of blush and mascara (their eyelashes HAD to be fake), and shiny, glittery dresses with plaid patterns, hints of emerald green and purple, lots of black and metallics. The collection was all rock-inspired and glam’d up— the over the top purple fur coat and fur jumpsuit were some that I thought would not work off the runway.
Some of my favorites from last night had to be the gowns— a gold sleek gown made of scales, and the final gown that made everyone’s mouth drop—a white gown voluminous and totally in tune with the “Swan Lake” theme.
The show ended with Kati Stern rocking down the runway and doing a little dance of her own. In the front row: Miss Jay from America’s Next Top Model. He’s giant in person!
