Intramuros “within the walls” in Spanish. It all started here. During the Spanish Colonial period in the Philippines, Intramuros WAS Manila.
It was built in the 18th century;
modernized in the late 1800s;
destroyed and forever scared in the 1940s;
and with the orders of former Philippine first lady (and eternally fabulous) Imelda Marcos, the walled city was restored in the 1980s.
I took the Carlos Celdran tour called “If These Walls Could Talk”. I recommend it to everyone and especially all Filipinos. You will be ashamed how much you’ve forgotten about our history. Also great for the ones who wanna be in on some chismis (which means gossip in Filipino).
Lazy day. Almost my entire outfit except my belt and bag are from our biggest homegrown department store called SM (Shoemart). Owned by a Chinese-Filipino Family, it has grown from a chain of shoe stores to a major key player in the shopping center industry not only here but also in China. They’ve got it all for you
Talk about Pinoy pride.
