Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was nothing less than amazing. The wonderful live performance by Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl—Lennon’s strong beat of the drum and Muhl’s ethereal Feist-y voice—was a breathtaking opener for Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show.
Once the models started to come down the runway, Rebecca Minkoff’s collection immediately connected with the urban gypsy vibe of the music—a combination of luxury and bohemian femininity came down the runway so beautifully in the form of soft curls, leopard prints, lush knitted sweaters, and a color palette of nothing but blood red, camel, and stone greys. I was amazed at her eclectic collection and its lack of dark colors and masculine silhouettes that we normally see in F/W collections!
Some standout pieces from her collection were her oversized wool cardigans, a leopard silk jumpsuit belted backwards, and the floral print chiffon gowns and wrap dresses that closed the show.
This was definitely a high profile show, with celebrities like Agyness Deyn, Tiki Sumpter, Gossip Girls Michelle Tratchenberg and Jessica Szchor, Eve, and Lo Bosworth. Rebecca Minkoff tweeted after the show: “I’m speechless! And yet cannot contain myself!”
This has to be my favorite runway show so far. Now go and google Rebecca Minkoff and Charlotte Kemp Muhl!
