Show your sweetie how much you care with a gift to warm them up when you’re not around. A cute pair of earmuffs, handmade stationary, or heart shaped baked goods fresh out of the oven are sure to make anyone want to “be yours!”
Plushie Earmuffs
Cute but not overly romantic, these warm earmuffs are a perfect gift for your platonic bestie. Mine were inspired by the Japanese character Totoro, from the Miyazaki film “My Neighbor Totoro,” but you can adapt the style to look like anything. Big heart earmuffs would be really adorable!
This is probably the most time consuming project, so make sure you give it to someone who will appreciate it (or…just keep them for yourself)!
Stationary and Cards
Making recycled paper is a fairly simple process, and a handmade card is always a nice touch on Valentine’s Day. I used an Arnold Grummer Paper-Making Kit, but there are many tutorials for making paper using household items. This one is very easy to follow.
Baked Goods
For this part, I made “pink lemonade” bars by simply adding a few drops of red food coloring into the lemon mixture in this lemon bars recipe, then cutting them out with a heart shaped cookie cutter. Traditional chocolate-chip cookies would also be fun in a heart shape. Take your cookie cutter and experiment with different baked goods such as cakes, bars, cookies, or even Jell-o!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
