I finally launched my Spring 11 Collection today. I have spent the last month stressing out about this collection. As usual, I procrastinated it for about 3 months lol. I am really happy with my new collection, it came out exactly how I wanted it to. I love babydoll dresses and how they were grunged up in the 90s. I tried pull grunge styling into my collection, but I wanted it to look clean and I didn’t really want my models to look like they were on heroin or anything so I decided to shoot the collection in a grungy location. My NEW boyfriend is a photographer and he took all the collection & shop photos for me. He did great work and is amazing for putting up with me, because I can be kindof a control freak when it comes to my collections. Not only is he amazing, but so is his brother for helping me make a video ad campaign for the collection! It’s so badass, seriously. I feel like my badass level went up about 4 points after seeing how the video came out. Like normally on a level of 1-10 I am about 8 in badassness, but the video made me look like a 12 or 13 in badassness. Anyways, so the collection is very flirty, whimsical, and girly. I think its perfect for a Spring collection. I used a lot of lace & eyelet lace in the collection and mixed and matched them in designs. I love lace, I am glad I finally designed a collection using it. The color palate is very neutral for spring, I used whites, cremes, & mint greens. I didn’t use a lot of bows & ruffles this season, but I incorporated a few here & there. Tell me what you think, I love to hear feedback!
I am really excited because I am going to debut my Spring 11 collection this Saturday at a charity fashion show. If you are in the bay area, you should come by and check it out on the runway! Check my blog for details www.alyssabird.com/blog
