Hey guys! This is what I ended up changing into yesterday. When I got out of bed the weather was gorgeously sunny and it looked nice and warm outside, but when I stepped outside to take pictures I could SEE my breath in the cold January air, so I changed into this outfit. I’ll be wearing a springier version of the look with some sandals and sans coat when the sun gains a bit of strength!
I sort of really like it, I’ve had this skirt for a month or something but hadn’t gotten around to showing you guys yet! I bought it for 2 euros at my favorite second hand shop, T2. I like how the right amount of poof around the hips makes it seem as if I really have an hourglass figure. And you guys already know I’m crazy about this skirtlength: I just can’t stop dressing like Peggy Olson! I’m thinking of pushing myself out of this retro comfortzone by trying to style the midiskirts a bit more fashion forward come spring, but I’m still completely smitten with these slightly retro, classic looks, so you’ll have to bare with me as I will be dressing like this until I’m sick of it!
I’m a tough cookie to crack: I don’t fall in love easily. Not with guys, not with trends, not with style icons. I told you guys before I wasn’t sold on the whole Alexa Chung thing right away, and look at me now: I’m dreaming of her haircut. I’m still going back and forth about getting my hair ombre-dyed. I actually used to have ombre hair because my dyejob grew out (ha, the ORIGINAL ombre crew yo), and I loved it back then. I was 16 and fresh as daisies (check out pictures of my original ombre hair and 16 year old self on my blog).
I wouldn’t like having to wear my clothes from back then again, but I would love my hair to look as cool as it did when these pictures were taken! It looked fierce, I’m not afraid to say it myself. I loved it and it’s one of my very favorite hairlooks I’ve ever had, but until I saw Alexa’s hair I never thought my prefered shorter hairstyles would be compatible with the faded ends look. Praise Alexa! I’d like my hair to be slightly shorter than it is now, and it would be straighter than Alexa’s. I did a really horrible photoshopjob on myself to see what it would look like. I’ll let you join in on the fun over at my blog.
If you squint your eyes real hard, it ALMOST looks real. Do you like it? Gosh, I hate people that piss and moan about something as silly as hair, but I’m just as bad. But that’s normal, right? Don’t you guys ever photoshop a new haircut on your face to see what it’ll look like? Or am I really one of the worst crazy people out there?
Anyway, I still need more feedback: convince me to do it or not to do it! I think the grunge will pose a nice contrast to my sweet, girly style, since I’m not that supersweet girly type AT ALL personalitywise. And I should have a few crazy haircuts now that I’m still young and not working in a place that demands a “professional” hairdo. But will it look nice with my style? Won’t I look cheap and skanky? Isn’t my solid color hairdo a stronger look? I’m in limbo here, ladies! Make me snap out of it, I’m pissing myself off!
I promised you guys my spacenail tutorial, but I only have pictures of the finished result so I’ll just talk you guys through it and take pictures of the process step by step next time I do it! Hop over to my blog for pictures :)
Give it a try and let me know if it worked out! My post is long enough as it is, so no movie recommendation of the day. Though you’re allowed to watch the movie from my post title, Liar Liar. I adore Jim Carrey.
AND LET ME KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO WITH MY HAIRZ
