What’s the best way to make a beautiful, romantic dress into something only fellow chictopians would understand? Layer a giant smock shirt and combat boots so I ended up looking a little bit like the crazy 7th grade art teacher everyone thought was sniffing the craft glue between periods. I also topped if off with a bright yellow sack, in case I need to steal any babies between my apartment and the train station. But seriously, this kind of layering not only takes your spring and summer wardrobe into the darkest depths of winter, it breathes new life into the same old same old.
I just got these boots from ModCloth the other day and am so excited to be wearing them. I’ve wanted a pair of combat boots for while to change up the usual knee-high boots that add a little too much glam sometimes. What I really liked about these was the over-sized grommets and the dark olive green color, which is a more interesting neutral than either a simply black or brown.
All in all, I think it’s a good casual Friday look. I’ll probably stop at home before going out for margaritas tonight to wear something a little more spiffed up but who knows? Maybe I won’t and I’ll make a statement.
PS – Sorry the photos are shitty. As usual, poor lighting, but this is extra poor lighting because we snapped these right before leaving my apartment while running late for work.
