I’m terrible with New Years resolutions- they turn out to be something lame like doing the splits (2008) or achieving smoky eye makeup (2011). However there are people whom I deeply admire who share the same traits I would love to ‘hone’ if I could this year (and beyond). They make me excited to ‘grow up’ in hopes of becoming just as intelligent and inspiring as they are. This list includes:
1.Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix
2.Natalie Massenet, founder of Net a Porter
3.Garance Dore, blogger and illustrator of Garance Dore
4.John Lasseter, CEO of Pixar
5.Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple
6.Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry
1.#1 Businessman in Fortune magazine- though I’ve never used his service, he’s made me realize the potential in online product service systems.
2.Luxury fashion goes online. In her 30s, Massenet merged the swiftness of the internet with the glamour of magazines. Inspiring article here
3.Girl dreams about becoming an illustrator and just goes for it, starting her own blog (she writes and photographs beautifully).
4.See ‘The Pixar Story’ in the Wall-E box set. I’ve watched it three times. According to Lasseter, ‘CEO’ means ‘Chief Experience Officer’. That’s my dream job!
5.Even if you’re sick of hearing his name for the billionth time, you gotta admit gotta respect him for changing the perception of ‘computer nerd’ to ‘cool whiz kid’. It’s all about the integrated lifestyle!
6.If the CEO tells you one day that you can do anything with an unlimited budget would this be your dream job? If yes then you’re Christopher Bailey (Burberry chief designer) working under Angela Ahrendts. It’s cool when business and design have that mutual understanding and trust.
