Here is an introduction to our new editor for shop ugly – Juliana. As many of you know, Connie is going to be heading up Everybody is Ugly, and we now have Juliana to head up the title of our professional shopper. Juliana was the editor of her school newspaper, an accomplished clothes whore, and one of the most thorough researchers I know. She’ll share with us her insights on deal and steals, and help us discover items and trends that makes us look pretty, or pretty ugly. Welcome Juliana!
So, I have to be completely honest. On the fashion scale, I’m probably not much of a hard-core trendsetter. I can’t spontaneously throw together some eclectic outfit and have it magically turn into high fashion. I don’t try to predict which designer is going to be big next year or which trends are just around the corner. Avant Garde is alarming and foreign designers are just hard to pronounce.
But, before I lose all credibility, let me tell you what I do know. I do know what looks good. I can weed the chic from the not-so-chic, and I’m a professional clothes whore with a definite love for aesthetic. The harsh would call me a copy-cat but I prefer a more delicate label. Because isn’t that what fashion is all about, taking ideas from other places, or people, and making it your own? That’s what the flaunting and advertising and showcasing is all about, no? So with that, it’s my goal to make the world a little less ugly by bringing power to the people…stylistically that is. Since Chictopia is about showing what real people wear and democratizing fashion, I want to show you where to buy the pieces necessary to assemble the chicest looks on Chictopia. And if there’s any outfit or photo you want me to post on, just let me know. And in keeping with the ethos of do-it-yourself fashion, I am here at your disposal—respondent to complaints, hints, ideas, but most of all, your own personal convictions about what is truly chic.
