In Camille’s post on how to dress for Halloween, she gave some brilliant advice to dress like your favorite character from a movie. Well, in the spirit of dressing up, here are some great solutions to a lack of a costume.
Princess Leia- I have a distinct appreciation for sci-fi movies. I own all the Star Wars on DVD and Laser Disc, I’ve seen the extended versions of Lord of the Rings more than once, and I think my family could watch an entire season of Battlestar Galactica in a single day. Anyway, from that stemmed the fantastic idea to be Princess Leia for Halloween—cinnamon roll hair optional. Just wear a white dress, a brown belt and boots…and you get to carry a lightsaber.
Indian Princess a la Tiger Lily- With all the fringe and boho trends, dressing as an Indian can be pretty simple. Just pair a flowy earth toned dress with fringed shoes and a head band and you have yourself a costume. Tinker Bell is kind of overrated because unlike Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily is actually successful in seducing Peter Pan…no matter how politically incorrect Disney was in the process.
Wayne from Wayne’s World- So I know that WhoWhatWear already did a post on 80’s inspired attire, but the idea was just so epic that I had to reiterate it. With the abundance of oversized flannel, distressed boyfriend jeans, and black rimmed glasses, this should be a pretty easy look. Just combine your hipster basics…
Vampire- With the Twilight movie coming out next month, dressing as a vampire would be one step ahead of the times. Pair a chic black cape with black bottoms, a pale face and red lips. Oh, and try to grow some fangs.
