The new year is almost here (pardon the rhyme), and fashion is all about progression and moving forward into the future. Take a look at the beautiful pre-fall collections to see what we will be wearing next year.
On the front page: Michael Kors’ future-athletic color palette and simple refined shapes are definitely the way to a modern girl’s heart, we love the fabrics and silhouettes of his looks. Jason Wu showed a ladylike girl who was ready for business, and Erdem progressed their total print look.

» Stick Figure (See DVF, Burberry, Helmut Lang, ADAM)
Next year, simple straight silhouettes let the clothes, fabrics and textures speak for themselves and are a fresh way to dress after 2009’s eighties-redux volume and 2010’s fifties-inspired full skirts. Flared pants make legs look miles long and the straight skirt works at all lengths.
» Mystery Machine (See Fendi, DVF, TSE, Ports 1961)
Scooby and the Gang seem like an odd choice of fashion-inspiration but it works so well. The colors are the best part, bold and vivid mixed together with dull and muted creates a fresh look. Fashion has loved the 1970s for a few seasons now and next year will introduce it in a casual way that is modestly chic and so, so cool.
» Coated In Fur (See Vera Wang, J. Mendel, Burberry, Zac Posen)
There’s no denying that fashion loves black clothes. Next year they are getting a luxe revamp in furs and heavy fabrics. The coat is where both of these worlds come together. The look is a glamorous way of looking to goth inspirations. Be it waist cinching silhouettes or straight long coats, the bigger and more dramatic the better. Leather adds contrast to the matte finish of a wool coat.
» Chanel Pre-Fall 2011 (See Here)
Karl Lagerfeld’s collection for Chanel really went to new levels. It was casual and wearable yet dramatic and special. The past few Chanel shows have been (although dramatically amazing) underwhelming but this one is modern and forward. We love everything about this collection, the textures, fabrics, colors, and accessories all worked together to create an amazing show. It looked as if a downtown-cool girl was inspired by 90s fashion but used ancient royal artifacts to create her look.
