Style— some of us are born with it, and other people learn along the way. I don’t think I was born with this killer sense of style, though I did learn a lot from my mom. What gives me an advantage in the fashion arena is my keen eye for detail. I really enjoy taking ordinary items and combining them to create a look that is unique to me.
I would make a great editor because I see beauty in things that other people might pass up. Quirky taste is a huge turn-on for me as I have always dared to be different. As an example, I was wearing neckties with my punk rock plaid skirts in high-school (and got teased for it) before it became cool (thanks to Avril Lavigne).
I applaud the fashionistas out there creating their own style without worrying how others perceive them. I want to give them a voice, and a metaphorical catwalk to strut their stuff!
I love Blowfish shoes because they’re funky and comfortable, two words that I use to describe my own fashion sense. Comfort is key, because who can be happy when you’re in pain? I love heels, but I prefer flat mary-janes— such as the flannel numbers I’m wearing in these photos. The straps are made of a silky fabric and have the look of a deconstructed ballet shoe. I love them and wear them quite often.
