Yesterday was a day of firsts.
First snow of the season.
First asymmetrical haircut.
First time in nearly a decade I’ve had a cellphone.
And first time I’ve been stuck in a dress.
Once I had to be sewn into a dress because the zipper split – moments before I was due to walk down the aisle at my best friend’s wedding. That was interesting.
This time I had the opposite problem. I couldn’t get the zipper down!
It’s not unusual for me to change three times before deciding on an outfit for the day. Yesterday I didn’t get that option. This was the first dress I put on and thanks to the zipper would be the last.
I had a client/vendor meeting, a ton of errands to run, and my hair appointment so there was nothing I could do but make it work.
It was quite chilly out. Tights were a must. I pretty much live in them during the winter. They’re great for layering under jeans when you live in a cold house.
Given the length of this dress – which isn’t much – more coverage was needed to keep warm, so I paired it with tall Frye boots. I have a feeling I’ll be living in these this winter too.
The accessories have all been thrifted. The beret was mostly to keep my crazy hair in check before my appointment. {These photos are pre-appointment.} Not that I need a reason to wear a hat. I wear ‘em ’cause I like ’em. Sometimes they’re actually functional. The scarf obviously was for added warmth and the muff for a touch of whimsy.
Muffs are damn near impossible to find. It took four years to get this one.
In case your wondering, I did manage to get out of the dress, but not without a fight. Mister had no more luck getting the zipper to budge. It took a lot of tugging, wriggling and finger-crossing before being able to pull it off from above. That was also interesting.
…The zipper is still stuck.
