Out Christmas shopping in the amazing, fairytale snow, a passing woman snapped, ’aren’t you COLD?’
& I looked at her, in just jeans and a hoodie, and just shook my head.
I mean, I don’t get it. I was wearing a wool coat, scarf, hat and gloves. I had silk underlayers on, tights, wooly socks, boots, and a dress. I was dressed infinitely better than she was for the weather, but for some reason she expected me to be colder than her. I don’t know if it’s just a British thing, but it seems some people think you can’t be warm and well dressed at the same time.
For me, it’s an exciting opportunity to wear more of my favourites at once, like this gorgeous scalloped-front coat, and the mittens given to me by the kids at the special school where I work. I get more excited the lower the mercury drops, because it means I can pull out my beloved knitwear and enjoy a real winter, instead of the muggy mild city winters of the last few years.
Bring on the snow!
