Nothing compares to the feeling of kicking off your shoes after a long day of work and wriggling your little toesies, letting them enjoy their newfound freedom. But once in a while – okey, quite often actually – a girl encounters a pair of shoes so perfect that she never wants to take them off again. Except maybe to take a shower. Let me introduce you to some potential love interests. Considering the cold wave we’re experiencing over here in western Europe, boots are in order!
I’ll also add a bit of prettyness for our chic guys.
Lace up boots
You might have noticed this already: I have skinny ass legs. This means that a lot of boots available in stores leave a huge gap around my legs and thus don’t fit right. The only type of boot that sort of fixes this problem is the lace up boot. Apart from this issue of practicality, they also just look very cool. I find a good lace up the perfect styling companion to the longer hemlines that are all the rage this fall/winter season, by giving a good nineties kick up the ladylike fifties length’s butt. Tie them up for a more puttogether look, or leave them untied and revel in your laziness. I know I will. I’m in love with Rachel_Moon’s casual chic look, perfectly complimented by her undone lace up boots. Are you a fan of a more girly look? Heartcity show us that lace up boots can look cute rather than tough too!

Classic boots
It’s hard to believe, but some girls don’t really love boots. In fact, one of my close friends hates boots and always dreads fall and winter because boots are a necessity in these seasons. My tip to her, and all you boot-hating boys and girls out there: pick a very simple style that goes with everything without taking the spotlight. This way, your boots will be a basic backdrop for your lovely look, and they won’t bother you too much since they don’t draw as much attention to themselves. Basic boots also look classy as hell. Everyone should have one classic pair of boots in their closet. You can really see this style as an investment that will last you years to come, so it’s a good idea to spend some more money on this one. BeverlyMun’s brown equestrian boots are a perfect example of what I mean: timeless, basic and classy.

Over the knee boots
Over the knee boots are a triple threat: they keep your legs absolutely toasty warm from toe to thigh, they look supersexy and they are just plain awesome. Yeah, that last one doesn’t make much sense, but I wanted to use the frase ‘triple threat’ so there. Keiko_lynn shows us that over the knee boots can also look cute rather than sexy and Dolly_Golightly lets her badass boots take the spotlight.

Boys:
over the knee boots aren’t really available for guys, apart from some unaffordable designer stuffz, so I’ll just link you the highest boots I could find! Find them here at ASOS.
Statement boots
Some girls DO love boots, and they want their boots to take center stage. For those days when your outfit is quite blah and just needs some booty action to kick it up a notch, here is some fierceness in shoeform. Lydia’s pink lace up boots are sweet like cotton candy and fierce like Lady Gaga. Awesome mix, right?

Chelsea boots
I’ve been particularly inspired by very basic menswear-esque boots lately. I love the way a good chelsea boot looks with some skinny jeans tucked in. But these borrowed from the boys goodies also look great with a frilly dress and over the knee socks, or a longer hemline and some scrunched down socks for extra layering interest. This is probably the only time you’ll be sorry your boyfriend has big feet (wink wink, nudge nudge). Laurissadrysdale gets one of her guy friends up on her blog for us to revel in the awesomeness of his chelsea boots, while emmathorn proves that girls can rock these boots too!
