I don’t actually live in a city. I go to university in Bloomington, IN—a college town, but a town, nonetheless. This was the most urban-looking background I could come up with! However, I still occasionally like to dress like I live in a city. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, an actual busy and metropolitan area, so I’ve still got a little of it in me. And, since I’m a theatre major, there are always excuses to dress like a socialite for my friends’ plays, operas, art openings and other more chic events that the rest of my football-obsessed town overlooks. But, I’m still wearing my school color (red), and looking festive at the same time! I can go to any Christmas concert and know that I’m dressed to impress.
And this is my personal insight regarding city girl looks: they’ve got to have the three B’s: black, bold and brave. City girls turn to classic black for most of their ensembles, with a few bold and eye-catching accents (like the red lips and tights), while always remaining confident in their attire. It’s as much about the attitude as it is about the outfit.
