Fall is probably my favorite time of year. My first year in Canada, I had just somewhat mastered the English language, and the very first time I went to the theater, I saw Hocus Pocus (I know! I know! It’s terrible… or terribly good??? Whatever, I was 9.) There’s no such thing as Halloween in Germany or Poland, (we have St. Martin’s Day ~ kinda similar? Well, you get to dress up in costume, and you have to sing for candy. I never got much candy. I got a lot of door slams. Sigh.) and I still love those Halloween scenes in that movie. You can smell the leaves and pumpkins in the air! The only thing I don’t like about Fall? The impending doom of winter that follows.
I try and escape to see my parents most winters. They live in California. I’m going through some of my favorite blogs, some of which happen to be stationed on the coast and I feel like I could breathe that air in through the computer screen. I miss the ocean. I miss that air. I used to say I’m married to the sea but there’s truth in that cheeky little line. I think its time for a serious reunion. Enough estrangement! Ocean-lover! Embrace me now!
Sigh. Back to work.
