It was grandfather’s 81st birthday and we celebrated it with style with a swanky and fabulous meal at a Spanish restaurant’s function room with about 3 stand-up comedians hired to keep us entertained after dinner, followed by a singer and a band and some dancing especially by my mum and her cousins, my aunts. The whole thing was like a production! It was soooo fabulous how everything unfolded! My grandfather deserves only the best and I’m happy that we gave him that!
Everyone was asked to dress in berry-inspired clothing. I decided to come in pink, which is still somehow a berry shade.
The full skirt is actually a dress I recycled from ages back. I only wanted to use the skirt so I added a buttoned down jacket with a cute ruffled hem that worked very wonderfully with the full skirt. I added the dress’ floral belt to add some consistency with the skirt.
The way my leopard-print pumps with rosettes added so much drama to the outfit…I loved it!
I remember Nigel’s quote in the Devil Wears Prada, “Well, you know me. Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I’m on board.” when I wore this outfit!
Dresses with built-in drama are the latest craze, with stars donning dresses studded with outrageous accents. These eye-catching looks have “a touch of feminine flirt and an understated confidence,” says stylist Brigitte Segura. If you’re not ready to invest in a gown, Segura suggests trying out the look with an oversized rosette pin: “Keep it tonal if you’re shy.”
I loved the outfit and how it worked magically, just like the night!
Hope it worked. It was a bit more formal for usual but that’s what the dress code dictated so that’s how I had to be.
*Update: I remembered just today how this outfit seems so reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw’s Oscar De La Renta outfit during Episode 88 of SATC Season 6. When she ended up fainting en route to the Opera? Hahaha I love it! I love Carrie! Seriously!
