Today we are meeting a girl that I could definitely be best friends with. Living on the other side of Europe (Bucharest, Romania) with a huge passion for heels and the color blue. This girls’ style is what I call exquisite, she dresses exactly how she likes: grunge influences followed by vintage and romantic trendy styles, without caring if people like it or not. Very stylish on the outside, sweet, graceful and intelligent on the inside, I’m talking about Chaba.
Andreea, first thing I wanted to ask you: I read you recently moved, where did you live before you moved to Bucharest? I lived in a small town, no need to name it (you never heard of it anyway), somewhere near Bucharest. I feel great here, although things aren’t that much different but it’s a change and I sure love changes. I go home every weekend so… yeah, it’s great :D
Where did your love for high heels start? What do you love about them? My mother is a very chic woman and although she didn’t have many garments in her wardrobe, everything she had was beautiful and unique since she customizes all of her clothes. Same with shoes. She always wears heels, mostly the really high ones so she is actually the one to blame :) I love the way they make me feel; both feminine and elegant. Sneakers will never do that, or at least not for me. I’m only 5’ 5" and I’m obsessed about long legs so high heels will always be my best friends. I guess it is the only advantage I have for being short :)
I know people who never wear anything else than flats/flip flops/sneakers are like “Omg, why are you wearing those? How can you walk in them, I never could” when they see me wearing these heels . It’s not that comfortable walking in high heels, I just got used to it and now I feel fab but there are people who prefer comfort over fashion.
I’ve just bought the Dany shoes from Jessica Simpson, thanks to you in a way. Can you give me some tips on how to style these beauties that are on display on your website? These shoes are amazing, there are so many different ways you could wear them! I am a bit sad that winter is so close so I won’t be able to wear them until spring but while it’s still autumn I rock them every time I can adding thick socks. You could wear them with scuffed jeans and thick sweaters, with dresses and ankle socks, with shorts and cardigans, the options are endless! Last time I wore them with a pair of carrot pants, some leopard print ankle socks, a silky shirt, a vest and a man inspired hat. Of course everybody was staring (people here are so judgmental) but I felt fab so nothing else mattered! They are my favorite pair of shoes because they have the perfect heel: chunky and high, I love the strap around the ankle, also the color and they are so comfortable! I could wear them all day long:)
Can’t wait until mine arrive :) I will wear them in winter, I tend to always wear whatever in Winter, because in my opinion: summery clothes are so much better… I guess you could call the judgmental thing something that is happening all over Europe. Beware_of_my_heels also spoke about it in her interview and I recognize it too.
How would you describe your own signature look? I’m not sure if I have one. I change so often that it’s hard to put it in words… but let’s call it “eclectic”. One day I could be wearing bows in my hair and pinkish ankle socks with a 60’s style dress and the next day it’ll be leather pants, motorcycle boots and piles of jewelry.
Using only one garment in order to describe your own style, what would it be? Hard one :)) I guess a pair of flared jeans, I’m so happy the 70’s are back!
If you could be anything, anyone, anywhere, who would you be, what would you do, where would you be located? I think I would be a taller version of me and living in France would be perfect :D I love everything about France, hopefully one day I’ll get to visit it:)
I share your love for France :)
Have you always been this stylish? How did you dress as a little girl and did you notice your style involve? I have always had pretty clothes because my mother was very attentive with her little girl. When I was a kid, I was more interested in my dolls and I was always concerned that they had the prettiest dresses. I enjoyed making them all kinds of garments from dresses to stockings. I started being interested in fashion 3 or 4 years ago after going through some major changes, from the rocker girl who was wearing only black to the sporty type. Now I’m in love with vintage and we’ll see what the future brings :D
I simply adore your style, but you have gorgeous pictures too!! How do you decide where and when to take them? Thank you! I have a bit of a problem with my pictures since I always try to take them in daylight and to do that I need somebody with me all the time. Usually my boyfriend or a friend takes my pictures but our schedules hardly ever synchronize so that’s why I don’t post an outfit everyday. I usually look for quiet places, I don’t like crowded backgrounds and people who stare.
Do you have a pet that could provide you a certain instant chicness? How do you feel about pets and fashion? I am big animal lover, I am also a vegetarian and I own a fat black cat which I love more than anything else in the world. So for me, that is my stylish pet but I don’t like people who only use their animals as accessories. You know, all those celebrities who carry their dogs in bags…If you need an accessory, use a scarf or a hat, not your pet!
Never been a fan of handbag-dogs myself, but I must say that whenever Jolie (my one-year-old Dalmatian) walks into the picture, everybody instantly falls in love.
Where do you like to go shopping? I like shopping for unique clothes that no one else has. So mostly, I buy my clothes from vintage and thrift stores. Of course I tend to visit the mall from time to time too but I’m not a big fan of it, it isn’t individual at all in my opinion. The internet is also one of my main sources, I buy my shoes from Reverse clothing, Solestruck (can’t wait for my Lita’s to arrive!), Zappos and some others. I was a big fan of Zara, Bershka and so on but at the moment I’m a bit disappointed of their clothing lines :)
Once you start shopping online, it’s difficult to stop in my opinion. They often tend to have items you can’t buy in your own country, especially if you shop at international online stores, eBay and etsy.
How did you discover about Chictopia? I think I saw a banner somewhere on a blog and after entering the site I was so amazed to see what a great source of inspiration this could be! I liked the idea of sharing my style with others so after I decided to create my blog, I thought posting my outfits on Chictopia would be the next great thing to do. I had my account for a while but I decided to post only after I created my blog.
And do make sure to check out Chaba’s blog, she is a starter, but her writing is very good and she has such a creative eclectic style. Thank you for this interview Andreea!! And as always: dear Chictopians, thank you for your support.
