“Oh clogs are so Spring 2010.”
When Chanel featured their models in clogs during their Spring 2010 Runway, everybody and their mamas wanted a pair. Not only have celebrities, like Rachel Bilson and Alexa Chung, embraced the trend, they also incorporated clogs into their Fall 2010 wardrobe.
But, what’s so great about clogs in the first place?
Sure they may look chunky, but they are unbelievably comfortable. The added height in the platforms gives you an extra few inches without compromising the way you would normally walk. Unlike stilettos, clogs won’t crunch up your toes and you wouldn’t need lessons on how to walk in them.
The functionality of clogs has evolved since the days when they were just worn in farms and rural areas. They are now embraced and coveted by both designers and consumers in the fashion industry. But, to make clogs suitable for everyday wear, designers came up with several variations of the original model.
1. Modern Slip-Ons
Forget Crocs ladies, let’s wear some of these slip-on clogs as seen on Style Icon, meganroses. These slip-on clogs stay true to the original concept except a platform and heel are added onto the shoe to give you that extra boost of height.
If you thought you’ve seen just about every shoe with a peep-toe, then you’re probably right. Style Icon, meganroses rocks another clog except in the form of a peep-toe. The peep-toe is definitely unconventional, but it’s a chic way of redesigning the clog.
3. Mary Jane Styled
If you don’t like peep-toe clogs, there’s always the closed-toe version with straps (worn by Style Icon, mitzicocoa). It especially looks like a Mary Jane shoe due to the black leather and straps near the ankle. This clog is a more conservative but still very daring.
This type of clog lets you wear two trends in one since it includes the lace-ups. While others are wearing lace-up booties, you can wear some lace-up clogs instead. Style Icon, golestaneh wears her lace-up clogs confidently.
Possibly, the most extreme form of clog thus far would be this clog boot worn by Style Icon, songofstyle . The extended boot shaft gives the clog some edge with additional warmth for those cold, fall nights. It’s a great way to dress up any simple outfit.
