You know you love it!
So despite the fact that my eBay account is kind of dead in the water, I still like to browse the vintage sections to see what I’m missing. Slightly masochistic, I know.
Needless to say, Treasure Chest Vintage comes up on my search. A lot.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Treasure Chest is run by none other than the lovely Rumi of Fashion Toast. She is… kind of a big deal.
My personal picks are here, and today, my blogger other-half is talkin’ about her baby, no not Caldwell silly, Treasure Chest Vintage.

So Rumi… how did Treasure Chest vintage come to be?
Since my days as a wayward youth, I’ve been combing thrift stores, garage sales, random church sales, and well, anywhere that could possibly yield awesome old clothes, but there came a fateful day when I discovered that I don’t have a closet the size of say….Mariah Carey’s. Damn. It was indeed a brutal realization, but I don’t think anyone has time to wear that much stuff anyway. So I enlisted the help of my ever handy boyfriend to photograph some things and try out the eBay store thing. That was three years ago and, well, I just kept on going from there!
How do you decide what to keep? And what to sell?
Having an eBay store is kind of like working at a pet adoption center – you get attached, and it’s so hard to let things go, but after a while you become numb to the pain. I generally end up keeping the items that I don’t have anything similar to in my existing closet, the goal being a well-rounded mishmash of awesomeness. But there are definitely items that I regret letting go, most notably the most perfect burgundy floaty bohemian minidress I’ve ever seen.
Any strange requests?
Haha most of the strangeness is when eBayers ask if they can buy my accessories. For a while this boot fetishist was messaging me constantly, which was both strange and kind of scary. But most people are really sweet, and I love to hear what they’d like to see more of in store.
What is the future for Treasure Chest? Would you ever stock men’s clothes? Furniture? Animals? Sorry went too far.
I’m not too sure if that many guys are trawling eBay for vintage treasures, but perhaps I am severely mistaken. But I actually once sold a rad guy’s leather Members Only jacket and had the boyfriend model it, which was kind of fun. The plan for the summer is to expand into creating a studio complete with accessory closet and grow the store as much I can! And to have Lulu model for it, of course.
Of course.
