Trendspotting: Disney Princess
Apparently, our childhood fascination with popular Walt Disney princesses doesn’t fade as we grow older. Instead of emulating the looks of such legendary female royalty via dress-up costumes and tiaras, we transition into a phase of copying these famous women through our own personal style choices. Whether or not they purposely composed their outfits in honor of one of these Disney characters, several recent Chictopians have been sporting such princess-esque ensembles.
SonjaG tells a Cinderella story in this charming vintage baby-blue frock. The cap sleeves, fitted bodice, and full skirt refer to the style of the traditional Disney Cinderella ball gown. She accessorizes the dress with sweet white pumps, a blue hair flower, and a vintage cameo necklace.
Although not romantically involved, Style Icons irisanddaniel resemble Snow White and her prince. Iris’s thick black hair and red headband are nearly identical to that of the Disney character, while her fun red tights and black and white basics keep the look ‘back to school’ ready. Daniel sports a prince-worthy trench coat, to which he adds a quirky periwinkle polo shirt and geek-chic glasses
Style Icon, turquoisepassion, plays the perfect part of new Disney Princess Tiana. Her lily-pad green dress, sophisticated short hairstyle, and naturalistic accents are right in tune with Tiana’s look. She makes this outfit ready for fall with a unique peacock-feather necklace and metallic textured clutch.
amos_photography is an (awake) Sleeping Beauty in this bright pink dress. The rose pattern of this clothing item hints to Aurora’s nickname of “Briar Rose”, while her shining blonde tresses mirror the hairstyle of this elegant Disney Princess.
Whether you’re two years old or twenty, these five Chictopians prove that we never truly outgrow our childhood fantasies. Putting together blog-worthy outfits is hardly different from engaging in a good old-fashion costume dress-up session. Let the games begin!
