My last day in New York for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week started out with Yigal Azrouel Spring 2011 collection. Yigal Azrouel was inspired by Irving Penn’s iconic photographs, in a modern perspective. The collection was a result of the evolution of experience and the realization of the substance and character that transforms ideas. The pieces that he showed definitely featured modern silhouettes and constructions but with fluid lines and sophisticated simplicity and sensuality.
Again, I saw a lot of muted tones and neutral colors like some of the previous Spring/Summer 2011 shows I’ve been to. Yigal Azrouel Spring 2011 was full of nude colors mixed with soft and vibrant colors and prints such as yellows, greens, and blush colors. Also notable were pieces in army green. He also had pieces in blacks and I personally love the swim suit in black constructed in feminine yet strongly defined way. The looks were very easy on the eyes. They were refreshing. I’ve seen a lot of silk, crepes and chiffon. He showed a lot of fluid tops and dresses but also had a lot of well-defined cuts.
Yigal Azrouel Spring 2011 is simply divine. It’s definitely a collection that I personally would love to wear.
