September 10, 2010 was the second day of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I was fortunate enough to attend the Costello Tagliapietra Fashion Show for their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection which was set at 3 pm. Upon arriving at Milk Studios, where the show was held, there were a lot of people outside the building and inside in line. There were a pool of stylish people and lots of photogs feasting on them. One of the notable guests at Costello Tagliapietra, which I happened to take a close-up photo of and even asked to sign my line-up list was Andre Leon Talley.
Moving on with designers’ Robert Costello and Jeffrey Tagliapietra‘s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, I must say that they went back to elegance indeed. Prior to the show, they talked about their collection returning to “a time when people took pride in what they wore to work”. Well, that’s exactly what I saw at their show. Costello Tagliapietra is known for their expert execution and in their show, they have proved it once more. They showed looks that are so elegant yet so effortless that anyone will feel comfy wearing them just about anywhere yet look classy at the same time. They focused on neutral colors but not in a boring way. The draping was perfectly executed. It’s definitely something I would love to wear.
And one last thing before I wrap it up, notice some of their pieces look like tie-dye? Well they aren’t. They were air-dyed. It’s a new technology that dyes and prints textiles without using water. It’s a sustainable method of printing and dyeing without sacrificing beauty. In fact, they gave away air-dyed fabric totes to their seated guests as you can see in the fifth photo. Thank goodness I got second row seats, a few seats away from ALT!
Well that’s about it for now. Stay tuned for my next fashion shows to feature!
