About the day: I went on a mini-hike, just me and my camera. Today was the first day I was forced to acknowledge the calendar and assert that yes, at least for me, the summer is over. I’ve been fortunate to have nothing but nice hot weather for the last few months (it’s great to be back in California!) but today it actually rained and was overcast. It was fantastic, though: the forest floor was softer, the trees gave off an incredible scent, and sounds everywhere were muted by the mist.

About the look: I heard the other day that grunge is coming back. My sources could be wrong, but I do so want to believe! All those years I lived in Seattle and still I missed what it’s famous for (aside from the artisan coffee and ample beer — and the books — and the rain)! So I’ll attempt to resurrect it regardless. And if it’s not true, then my rose-colored slip dress and ancient Dr Martens will have to just rock to the beat of their own drummer!

feel the exact same way! summer's officially out the door, hello fall! but really adore this look, sums up fall perfectlly. loove those doc martens boots!
