cue epic music
This is a day of new beginnings.
On another note: seems I’ve just been elected a STYLE ICON OMG :D I just opened my laptop, opened my firefox and my chictopia to check my messages and I saw I had a message from Erumque congratulating me for becoming a style icon and I was like OMG :D I hadn’t even noticed it yet! So yes, an amazing surprise! Today’s look was photographed yesterday so excuse my less than celebratory facial expressions, I’m smiling with all my teeth on the inside! This has been an amazing month for me: working hard for my cash at my summer job, being approved an uglies contributor and now this style icon thing? I’m over the moon. Chictopia, I wub you.
Now for my outfit, because it’s quite exciting for me too: I’m wearing pants! No really! See? I am! I did a post on my personal blog a few days ago about suddenly craving a good pair of menswear inspired pants. I wanted the loose and casual feel of the harem pant because it goes so well with blazers and brogues and all things sharp and constricting, but I do NOT want my bum to look like it’s melting. In other words, I wanted some looseness and poof in the front, but I wanted a fitted backside. And guess what, I found the perfect pair of pants on my last day at my summer job! Ok no they aren’t perfect because I wanted a lighter color, but black is always good and it makes my legs look so long! When I saw the slightly looser shape around my legs, I immediately pictured it with army style lace up boots. I SO love that look for guys: pants that are sort of fitted but still a bit loose around the leg, and tucked into some rugged lace up boots. I even wanted to try the look myself, that’s how much I loved it, so here it is! I wanted to wear it with a blazer at first, but I only just wore a blazer in one of my last looks so I reached for the military jacket that worked even better with the look! I feel like I look like some modern pirate? And whoever knows me, knows that I LOVE pirates. I loved pirates before pirates became hot. I love sailboats and whenever there isn’t enough seating area in a bus, I pretend I’m on a ship that is being rocked by the waves and I train my sealegs by catching the sudden bumps and turns in my leg muscles, sort of like surfing. I’m not even kidding, that’s how much I love pirates. So this look is sort of great for a day as awesome as this one!
I hope you like me in pants, because I felt great! expect to see a lot of outfits with these beauties!
