I wanted something that could be worn through several seasons (if it’s dry enough), with contrasting socks, and using perforated leather. I feel that perforated leather is really the future, plus I like it’s breathable, comfy, supportive qualities. There is a floppy leather bow on the ankle, which I think is charming and adds some movement/visual weight. There is a skinny cuban heel cup, just for support and comfort (I personally hate slingbacks, they never have enough support), with an extra long tab for interest. I picked a purplish-grey color, which I thought would translate beautifully across three seasons (perhaps all four if you live in a warm place), and would be neutral enough to wear with everything, but still interesting enough to be a focal point of the outfit. They are specifically for mixing and matching in your every day wardrobe, not necessarily for special occasions with that one dress or outfit. I can see these with cropped pants, cargos, frilly skirts, poofy shorts, skin tight minis, leg warmers, beach coverups, and everything in between.
I was inspired by my friends (aka modern young women), who are all fabulous dressers and can all be described as girls who can’t follow the rules ;) This is a shoe for them, though I’d love to own a pair myself. After all, I can’t follow the rules even if I try, too. I was also inspired by the recent developments in perforated leather apparel, which is picking up speed. And my own drawings and fashion preferences, of course!
