Beginnings
The separated collar was introduced to the fashion scene last Spring by way of cats, dogs, and nude women. Miu Miu showed everyone that the all buttoned up look was super chic. For Fall 2010 they showed more neck adornments with thick bow collars which are also a versatile piece of inspiration for this season.

Chictopians have jumped on the collar trend and have showed it in so many different ways that we decided it can be as great an accessory as a gold necklace. The separated collar is a neck piece that can be worn with just about anything and gives your outfit a lift that you never knew it needed. It works because it’s clever and unique but in a way that is so refined and simple. We’re enamored by this easily DIY-able trend and are readily grabbing our unused button-ups and chopping the collars off to wear with any top anytime. Although the collar has most popularly been worn in the crisp-stiff shirt variety, there are also lace forms that hearken back to Mademoiselle Chanel.
