Trendspotting: the Little Red Dress
As I browsed through the Style Gallery today, I was struck by the number of bright red dresses and accessories. It seems as if the classic LBD (little black dress) has been replaced with a more vibrant counterpart: the LRD (little red dress). It’s no wonder that the color red has been forecasted as a popular look for this upcoming fall. The glorious natural beauty of the red, orange, and yellow leaves ties in perfectly with bright scarlet fashions. Check out how these stylish Chictopians pulled off this look!
Retro fashionista, angiekje , is pin-up perfect in this feminine 1950’s-style LRD. She increases the vintage vibe of her outfit with flirty black polka-dot knee-high stockings and classic pumps, adding a touch of masculinity with a menswear-inspired black bowler hat. What a better way to finish off this playful look than with an adorable black and white Dalmatian?

We love the edgy look of fashionchalet’s LRD ensemble! She creatively pairs a sweet little H&M rosette minidress with a polish, military-inspired olive green wraparound jacket and grey t-strap gladiator heels. Not only do the jacket and shoes balance out the Rococo-like femininity of her dress, but the muted Army shades provide an unexpected color contrast.

If you’re not a big fan of dainty dresses, take a look at amandromeda’s outfit. She quirkily emulates the LRD trend via this one-of-a-kind red and black nautical sweater in an outfit that’s both fashionable and practical. She keeps her look fresh and perky with cuffed skinny jeans, whimsical brogues, and a vintage-esque bobbed hairstyle.
Even though we may view LRDs as a relatively contemporary fashion trend, crimson clothes have always been a classic staple in the stylish woman’s wardrobe. Take a look at classic film star Sophia Loren , and literary protagonist Scarlett O’Hara . These gals sure knew how to rock their red! Both classic and trendy, every girl should have one of these beauties in the back of her closet.
