Here’s my first entry to be considered for a position as an uglies contributor! So excited!
With the last few weeks of fall-like weather over here in Western Europe, I’m losing hope: summer seems to be over for another year. I’m trying to keep my faith for September, but I don’t think summer has another few weeks of hot hot heat in store for us. This makes me sad. And confused: all I want to wear is cute dresses and shorts and very little fabric, but my legs get goosebumps even thinking about it! So let us dive into some faux-fall inspiration.
HighstreetCardigans : I wanna have little stars in my eyelashes – if you wear a flower crown in your hair, ANY outfit will get a slice of summer injected into it. Cardigans and leggings or tights will instantly look ready for a watery Western European summer when you wear those hippie adornments on your head!
ashleyrose: “Im living my life aint got stress no more” – wearing summer’s skirts and shorts with fall’s sweaters and boots – but without tights – keeps you warm when mornings and evenings are cool, but your bare legs still give you a bit of a summer feeling. Especially when they’re tan and when your sweater and boots have colors not typically associated with fall. Take a bright colored or white sweater and use brown boots instead of blacks to keep the look fresh.
nikiadams: what a lady. – substitute your miniskirts for something longer: this elegant ankle grazing length is perfect to shield your legs from temperature changes, while still being breezy and sweat-free when the sun does decide to come out and play. Elegant and feminine with heels, modest and sweet with flats or sandals. And this length will look amazing with some heeled lace up boots when fall really comes marching in!
Aphrodite: Constanzia Corleone – a light, preferably seethrough skirt of a slightly longer length over your minidresses or miniskirts keep your legs warmer. The peek-a-boo effect keeps the look cheeky and summery! Want to try this look with bare legs and the seethrough bit on top? thehautepursuit has got your back. Layering is key for a good transitional look, but I don’t have to tell you guys that. Layering is always key!
growtrees: The Page Boy – summer’s shorts look just as nice with a warm jacket or coat to keep your body heat in check. Putting the warmer layers on top allows you to keep the legs more summer-appropriate, without socks and with open shoes or sunny sneakers. Scarves and hats optional!
And when the weather really gets too cold for bare legs, even with warm sweaters, scarves, gloves and hats: knee socks will be your best friend and look ultranice in some strappy shoes or clogs. Buy a pair of thick, opaque or textured tights (preferably in non-blacks like beige, tan or nude) and cut off the legs. Wear the legs as ultralong socks and let them fall down a bit or wear them with suspenders. The thick material will keep your legs warm and will keep the look from becoming too sexy.
Feeling inspired?
