I am sitting in our hotel balcony(over looking the Dubai Fountain and Dubai Mall) as i am writing this, with the sound of water from the pool downstairs (6 floors below us) and the desert breeze is warm but nice. We have been here for a week (arrived sunday last week) and it’s been good so far. Yes, not the best time to come as it is Ramadan (no eating, drinking (even water!), smoking, music in public during day time! And though we are not muslims, we are sort of fasting because there’s just no available food, real food anyway, anywhere so we’re surviving with canned stuff and DIY sandwiches and salads (DIY food?). But the good thing is that when iftar (Evening meal when muslims break their fast) comes, everybody is hungry and in festive mood, it’s like Christmas eve everyday! And the mall (restaurants/cafes) are open till 2am! The evening is basically extended so people can enjoy the night and be recharged for the next day. =)
This outfit was my 9th outfit i think, i’ll try to do it in order in Pandora’s Box.=) I wore it for my “Solo garden moment”, the man is busy everyday (He has at least 4 meetings a day, and finishes at 9pm earliest.) so i usually get dressed and ask him to take the photos before he leaves as i try to avoid taking photos at night, so he’d do that and run off. So i sat in the garden area of the hotel and read my book while waiting for Iftar/the man to come back. One of my top 5 favourite Autumn 10 trends is the 50’s (LV etc). I have a few 50’s vintage dresses i’ve collected in the past few years and this is my big chance to wear them, thanks Marc!=) As you know, i would wear almost anything, from the most boring but classic casual/everyday looks to the most weird and unconventional outfits. The quest to look different each day and remain ME keeps me inspired and one of the looks i really enjoy is vintage. They can make you look like a 300 yr old woman (that when you walk in the street everybody seems to look so childish), who simply cant stop having fun! So when i wore this outfit, i instantly remembered the how to cross your legs like a lady, hold the skirt before you sat and stuff. Movie stars say that they like their jobs because of the parts their play, i think clothes are the same, you feel like a rockstar simply by wearing leather, Chanel by wearing the pearls etc. And so i understand why Meryl Streep always plays a different role.
The sun is sinking and i am getting more and more hungry!!! =)
That’s it for me, off to check your looks then go for a quick swim then BIG dinner!=)
