We are looking for more Contributing Editors this year! Read below to see how to submit. It is a rolling submission process so there is no deadline!
APPLY TO BE A CONTRIBUTING EDITOR
If you are interested in being a contributing editor for The Uglies, upload two writing samples to your Chictopia blog. Then, friend Cheri Chictopia on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/cherichictopia) and send her a message with a link to your submissions. You can also tweet her (@mysweetcheri) to let her know you’re interested! When approved, your Chictopia profile will be given permission to submit work to The Uglies.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for rich content that is relevant and interesting to our community members. Ask yourself, “What would I like to see on The Uglies?” Consider current events, top trends, debut collections, advice, how-to’s or anything else you think our community would find interesting. Accompany these submissions with clear and quality photos. The better your content, the more likely you are to be approved as a contributing editor!
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU ARE APPROVED
You will be sent a brief tutorial detailing the publishing process. Once you have looked over it, you can start contributing!
Any submitted work is not guaranteed to be published in any of The Uglies’ blogs. Only the top submissions will be published. These entries will have quality photos, polished language, accurate facts and citation, succinct and comprehensive information, and clean design elements (clear headers and sub-headers, working links, paragraphs, etc). We appreciate every single one of your submissions and read them all. If you’re not published right away, we encourage you to keep trying!
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
You’ll get 500 Chic Points for any of your posts that are published in The Uglies blogs! The top three contributing editors – that is, the contributing editors with the most published content that season – will be invited to cover fashion shows for Chictopia at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. In addition, you’ll attend parties and even our Chictopia 10 conference; all the while acting as an Editorial Correspondent for The Uglies. Up to $500 of your expenses will be covered.
