How do I make my life Juicy? By jumping off the deep end, feet first! As a creative high school student, I made the choice to attend a fine-arts college so that I wouldn’t be stuck in a tiny office all day, slaving away at a job that I hated. Fast forward eight years and what was I doing? You guessed it, slaving away at a job that I hated in a very tiny office. Something had to change, but the thought of quitting was scary. Actually, more like terrifying.
Well, this year I took the plunge, quitting my uninspiring job in higher education to pursue what I truly feel passionate about: a career in fashion. Living in the heart of Red Sox Nation, the uniform of choice is more red, white, and Sox than Rodarte, Wang, and WWD but I’m determined to make my way. As I build my stylist portfolio, the most satisfying thing to me is seeing my ideas come to fruition. Not just imagining what would look great with what, but actually putting my thoughts to practice.
Everyday is exciting and scary, but that to me is the juiciest part: the unknown and unexplored. Looking back on my life I would rather see risk, trial, and (hopefully) achievement, than one steady paycheck. As an old woman, I want to be satisfied that I took the risk and jumped!
