Animal prints have long been in the fashion industry. Too long that I’m beginning to think it should be a staple at every woman’s wardrobe. True enough, stylists and fashion icons like Rachel Zoe and Nina Garcia include leopard or animal prints to be part of every woman’s closet – in whatever piece or size. In fact, you’ll see a lot of celebrities still donning animal prints everywhere. It’s proof that animal print never goes out of style. Even as a kid, I remember my Mom hoarding a lot of animal prints in her closet! So here are some tips on stocking up on animal prints.
Choose Natural Colors of Animal Prints
By this I mean choosing the natural colors of animal prints. These are likely to stay in trend for years or even decades as compared to say, leopard prints in pink or purple color. So make sure to go for animal prints in its natural colors. Go for shades of brown and black for leopard prints; white, gray and black for zebra prints; and camel, brown and black colors for tiger prints among others.
Keep It Simple
When wearing animal prints in your outfit, especially when you’re wearing an animal print dress, top or bottom, make sure to keep the rest neutral. For example, I matched my leopard silk blouse with plain army green pants with plain camel or brown accessories. No need to mix in prints on prints. Keep the rest of the look simple so as not to make the whole outfit busy.
Avoid Mixing Animal Prints
Make sure to mix only one animal print in your outfit. Avoid mixing a leopard pants with a tiger top and zebra bag. You don’t want to be a walking jungle. Remember the second tip, keep it simple.
