I suppose you can tell that I’m not actually at the DMV in these photos. However, I did travel to the DMV today and it also influenced my wardrobe choices, resulting in a third day in blue this week. As much as possible, I avoid wearing red, white, and blue all at one time. For whatever reason, I hate wearing anything that might be seemingly patriotic. For me, it’s kitschy in a way I don’t wish to be. I’ll often wear red, white and black; the black is mistaken as blue. Or, I’ll wear orange, white, and blue; the orange is mistaken as red. These moments are always bummers for me because I deliberately avoid the red, white and blue combination. Even on July 4th! Today, however, felt like a different story. I had to march myself to the DMV to get a new driver’s license, and two things came to mind: 1) A little patriotic flavor might be fun for the occasion because, what better way to invoke your US citizenship than grabbing a driver’s license, (and voting, I suppose) and 2) One must always choose something a little humorous to wear when getting their driver’s license photo taken! Thus, I chose this navy and white ensemble complete with peter pan collar and polka dot Western tie. Doing a navy and white combo is about as patriotic as I get when it comes to wardrobe choices! I can’t wait to get my driver’s license. I found this brooch thrifting last week, and added it just for my photo shoot for a bit of added flavor and humor, and to put together that oh so dreaded red, white and blue ensemble. Now, I just have to wait another ten days to see the outcome of my DMV travels.
So much more on my blog.
And lots in my Etsy Shop.
