(Tears For Fears – Sowing The Seeds Of Love)
I adore the line from the song I have used as my title. The ambiguity is amazing and I always like to analyse lyrics. On the surface, it’s saying bring back substance into music, and get rid of all these pop acts who are just there to look good. Delving deeper, it could be about the band the Jam. The Jam’s songs were all about politics and depicted such intense social realism in their songs. Then Wellar left and formed the Style Council, and even though some songs were about political issues (Walls Come Tumbling Down for example), they weren’t known as a particularly political band – it was much more about the catchy songs and the popularity (which is kind of ironic as The Jam were MUCH bigger). So in my opinion this line could be saying, bring back such bands (like The Jam) that told you the truth and fought on the issues through their music instead of these manufactured pop acts who don’t write their own songs and don’t try and change things with their lyrics. (I wrote something similar on a website that visit sometimes back in 2004. I just checked the post now and someone replied saying that I’m correct and the band did say it was about the Jam/Style Council. Very chuffed – love being right!! :))
As you can probably tell I am quite into my music and especially my popular music history AND I really do believe that fashion and music go hand in hand. I couldn’t be me without either in my life.
Let’s leave the music bit and get to the clothes. This is yesterday’s outfit when I went for a Sunday meal with family and friends. I’ve been wearing a lot of this cardi and skirt combo lately. The last pics I got taken of me wearing this was last week but it started raining and the pictures were ruined!! Oh well – finally managed to post them :) My necklace is the only new item here…I got it in the Topshop sale for, wait for it ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………£1!!!
