I am accepting that I can no longer describe how I would stand out going back-to-school this Fall. I am not only done with high school, but college as well. AH! OLD!
But I suppose a bit of reminiscing doesn’t hurt either.
In high school…
I’m not sure that – as far as fashion went – that I did stand out. I wore a lot of Hollister, Abercrombie and Forever 21 (HEY!). My friends and I (oh, and we had a name – TK²R, for Takara, Kourtney, Kristine and Rachel) were the types of girls that would wear denim mini skirts and ballet flats, carried purses instead of backpacks, always broke the dress code, came in late for class and never did any work but still managed to get A’s. I was voted Miss Photogenic and was nominated for Homecoming Queen – along with my best friends – and didn’t realize until high school was done that I was kind of a bitch. Ha! But you live and learn right?
I think what made me stand out in high school was my attitude. I always said what no one else wanted to say and did obnoxious things only my friends and I would find funny. But that’s what made high school so fun. The friends I met seven years ago (AH I’M OLD) will be my life long friends. And whether or not you’re popular – and trust me, after high school, no one cares if you were voted Miss Photogenic – all that matters is that you have people there beside you helping you along the ride.
BTW – I’m REALLY excited for MTV’s new series premiering Tuesday, “If You Really Knew Me.” I know I’m pretty much gonna cry every single episode.
