When I first heard about the TeenVogue x Chictopia contest I was thrilled beyond belief. Being in TeenVogue has always been a dream of mine, so winning this competition would allow me to complete that dream. I’ve been subscribed to TeenVogue for only a short while now, however, it’s always been a source of inspiration for me.
The piece that I’ve chosen to remix is one of my favorite dresses. It’s actually a child’s dress from Old Navy, but I love it’s trapeze shape and whimsical print.
1st Outfit: White on white is probably one of the best ways to layer during the summer without worrying about overheating. For this look, I tucked my dress into a pair of shorts for maximum movability. :) The little flower pins on my shirt were made by yours truly and were added on for a touch of color.
2nd Outfit: I love the texture this scarf adds to the dress. However, it gets pretty hot during the day, so I was baking during this entire photoshoot. Needless to say, a lightway scarf is a good way to accentuate an outfit. I tried to choose pieces that matched the browns and pinks within the dress, in order to to add some subtle texture. :) I think I succeeded with the light striping of the vest and the snake skin pattern in the belt.
3rd Outfit: For my last look, I wanted to go with something a little more colorful. Brightly Patterned tights are the perfect smidge of color plus they keep you warm during the night. I purchased mine from a random nick knack store somewhere in SF. Another easy way to stay warm during summer nights is a button down because it’s quite thin. Belting it will help keep some semblance shape in an outfit. If it’s uber long like mine, be sure to let the dress or skirt peek out from beneath it. :)
